What is DocGraph?

DocGraph is a desktop knowledge base built around a simple idea: your notes are plain HTML files in a folder you own. No proprietary database, no cloud lock-in — a vault is just a directory on your disk.

  • HTML-first. Documents are real HTML files, edited inline with a native-feeling editor. Markdown files are supported too.
  • Linked thinking. Connect notes with links and #tags, and explore the connections in the link graph.
  • Whiteboards. Infinite canvases for visual thinking — sticky notes, shapes, pen drawing, and ERD table nodes for database design.
  • Local AI, opt-in. Chat with your vault using local models through Ollama. AI is off by default and nothing ever leaves your machine.
  • Autosave everywhere. There is no save button. Edits are committed automatically as you work.
  • Extensible. A plugin system lets you add functionality, with a permission model that keeps third-party code sandboxed.

DocGraph is free. The plugin SDK, example plugins, and registry are open source under the MIT license.
